USFS

The USFS is a more complex program that most skaters end up focusing more on around the ISI level early freestyle levels. All the olympic champions use the USFS program because the program is more of an intensive high leveled skater competition, that can or builds up to the olympics or Nationals. This makes the program a harder and a program that challenges you more then ISI, they focus more on you being able to do the required stuff they have you do as well as making sure you understand what you are doing, and you have good technique. The USFS has designed whats called moves in the field as there test. This test is divided in two parts, moves and freeskate for each level. You must pass moves first before you even show them your freeskate. This is because they want to make sure you are in control and have the balance to do the jumps and spins. Sadly if you do not pass your moves test and you signed up for both you will not get to refund the money from the freeskate. To help better understand here are some pros and cons about USFS.
Pros

  1. This program is a good program that focuses on the techniques in a skater
  2. It's a great challenge
  3. Really good for competitions
  4. Gets great news whats going on with the champions if you subscribe or is a USFS members
Cons

  1. More expensive then ISI such as the testing, the ice network passes, etc
  2. More time consuming because more to work on, and harder to learn and pass
  3. Dealing with some of the parents, some parents are crazy and force their kid to train hours a day just for to make it to Nationals or so. These kind of people can be hard to deal with.
